About me

IMG_6757_edited.jpg

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist working at the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in the North East of England. I have graduated from medical school in Malta in 2012, and furthered my training in the UK, spending time in London, North Yorkshire and the North East. As an eye surgeon with sub-specialist training in Glaucoma and complex Cataract surgery, I perform procedures ranging from YAG laser iridotomy, posterior capsulotomy and cyclodiode all the way through complex cataract surgery, trabeculectomy, MIGS procedures (e.g. iStent inject W), and glaucoma drainage devices (such as the Baerveldt tube and Ahmed valve).

Additionally I am heavily involved in the aviation sector. I gained my Prviate Pilot's Licence at the age of 17, and went on to eventually gain my Commercial Pilot Licence with a Multi-Engine Piston & Instrument Rating. I later qualified as a Flight Instructor, and have flown airplanes ranging from single-engine piston airplanes through Beechraft King Air 200 for air ambulance and charter work, and more recently airline flying with a major UK airline. It was a matter of time until I combined these two passions of mine, to become an Aviation Medical Examiner for the UK Civil Aviation Authority. I am therefore now offering my services as an Ophthalmologist with specialist and expert advice on Aviation and its regulatory framework.
